  Lifestyle and Infectious Disease Study, Descrição: This is a cross-sectional study with the objective to assess the association between a healthy lifestyle and the presence of reported respiratory infections and complications. A survey will be conducted in social media platforms containing questions about lifestyle and the diagnose of infectious diseases in the previous year. We expect to recruit 1,000 participants for this study. The inclusion criteria for the study is the ability to speak English and internet accessibility.   The relationship between lifestyle risk factors and COVID-19 in a healthcare employee population, Descrição: Background: COVID-19 is an acute infectious respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, a subtype of the coronavirus. It was first detected in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and is currently spreading worldwide. Besides demographic characteristics and normal levels of biometrics measures, a healthy lifestyle has been considered an indispensable element in preventing complications of coronavirus infection. Objectives: to assess if demographics, health behaviors, and biometric screening results are associated with COVID-19 diagnosis and symptoms in Loma Linda University Health Employees Covered by the Risk Management Health Plan. Methods: Participants of this study will be employees covered under an employer-sponsored health plan at Loma Linda University Health. This study will analyze the association between demographics and health variables with a COVID -19 positive versus non- positive status and COVID -19 symptoms. Demographic data will be extracted by the health plan's Tapestry System, which contains data collected during employee onboarding. Health behaviors and biometric screening data will be collected from Risk Management's Living Whole database, and COVID-19 status and severity of symptoms will be collected from Employee Health data. Statistical Analysis: COVID -19 symptoms will be classified as no COVID 19 diagnosis, asymptomatic, mild illness, and hospitalized or fatal. A logistic regression and ordinal logistic regression model will be applied to analyze demographics, biometrics, comorbidities, and health behaviors associated with COVID -19 diagnosis and symptoms.   Loma Linda Longevity Study, Descrição: ?The purpose of this investigator-initiated study is to evaluate the association between lifestyle, longevity and morbidity in a senior population in the Inland Empire. This is a cross section study that consists of an in person or phone interview with male and female participants who are 85 years old or older and living in the San Bernardino and Riverside counties in California, USA. The study will be promoted in the community and interested subjects will be contacted for a 10-15 min interview during the months of July to December 2021. Informed consent will be read to them and signed or agreed during a recorded session by the research assistants. We plan to recruit about 400 subjects for the study. Results of the study will shed more light into longevity lifestyle factors after controlling for demographics among different ethnicities in the region.
